Bonarda expresses itself subtlety in our calcareous and biodiversity-rich soils. Its ripening process is unhurried and the fruit profile varies depending on the harvest; it flaunts red fruits with kind spicy notes such as pepper. Climate conditions allow us to strike a balance between alcohol and ripeness of skins and seeds, attaining concentrated, low-alcohol wines.
As in Galicia, this varietal reaches full expression in the calcareous soils of Balcarce. The plant’s foliage is balanced and the thin sunlight the grapes receive allow an unhurried ripening that leads to a complex and rich fruit expression and soft mineral notes. Berries ripen with balanced sugar and acidity, favoring fresh and, at the same time, velvety, unctuous wines.
Tannat’s profile of red and black fruit is completed with mineral notes that are typical of our calcareous and biodiversity-rich soils. The combination of the soil and the climate grant a concentrated and kind wine in the mouth in which the tannins have matured smoothly. The strong winds of this location naturally regulate the fruit setting and the number of berries in each bunch, allowing grapes to ripen healthy and with good sun exposure.
Riesling ripens unhurriedly in Balcarce, resulting in good aromatic complexity. Harmonious blend of freshness and minerality that integrate and evolve on a soft and unctuous palate. Our soils, rich in organic matter and microorganisms, grant a generous substratum to the development of this wine’s character. The presence of calcareous seams provide a mineral expression evoking the soils’ marine origin.
This ancestral grape, so noble and peculiar, provides us with one of the best exponents in Puerta del Abra. We acquainted Pinot Noir as a great base for sparking wine, and redescovered its best version as red wine: along the way we found absolute elegance, aging potential, tension, varietal tipicality and an unique character in its complexity, its fruitness, its acidity and its evolution in the glass of wine.
