A brief history
Claroscuro Bodega de arte a family winery located in Valle de Uco, Mendoza, Argentina. Our single vineyard of vines planted with Malbec, Cabernet Fran , Petit Verdot, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc. Claroscuro’s location at 1054 m.a.s.l. (3428 ft), its undulations and the presence of an ancient river bed transform it into a unique property in the Uco Valley. We have a sandy loam soil in the higher levels of the vineyard and stones in the lower parts so we can divide the vineyard into parcels thus generating greater diversity which allows us to produce a greater variety of wines from the same vineyard.
As an “Art Winery” we believe that winemaking is as much an art as painting. Each label is from a local artist, and is chosen to represent the expression of each wine.
The idea of combining art and wine came from a coffee talk between Gustavo Cucchiara (owner) and Sergio del Giudice (Argentine artist) whose friendship has been around for years. Both agreed that Argentine art needs to reach more people and that wine could be a way of connection. Claroscuro Malbec 2014 the first wine launched to the market, has Sergio del Giudice Artwork “Munch no grites más”.
Successive artworks were chosen because of the impact, expressiveness, intention of the artists and the way they were connected with each wine. The labels visually appeal to the consumer
Our ambition is to promote art through our wine, and from art the pleasure to enjoy wine.
