Nose
The nose combines ripe berry fruit and spicy notes from La Pirámide Vineyard, with enticing black berry flavors obtained at Nicasia Vineyard and Adrianna Vineyard. Light oak hints of vanilla and spice add complexity to its wonderful fragance.
Palate
On the palate, a soft sweet attack leads to a medium-bodied wine of soft, velvety tannins. Finishes long and lingering.
Growing Conditions
'La Pirámide' Vineyard, Agrelo, Luján de Cuyo (950m/3117ft). Alluvial origin. Clay topsoil with rounded rocks on the bottom.
'Nicasia' Vineyard, Altamira, San Carlos (1095m/3593ft). Alluvial origin. Loamy soil, with rounded rocks on the bottom.
'Adrianna' Vineyard, Gualtallary, Tupungato (1450m/4757ft). Alluvial origin. Gravel and limestone. Rounded rocks in the bottom.
Harvest
Dry Farming, Cool Climate and Eternal Snow. The coolest vintage in the last thirty years, 2016 was marked by "El Niño", low yields and a fully snow-covered view of the Andes through the summer. The rains came together with cooler than usual days which saved us from any rot by lowering yields and shortening the harvest season. Our vineyards were mostly dry farmed; natural acidities are extremely high and alcohols low, in the 12-13 range. The 2016 wines might take longer than usual to be ready for drinking.

Selected yeast. Max. Ferm. Temp 29º C for 12 days. 30 days maceration.
Aging
16 months in French oak.
Appearance
Of a red violet colour with red ruby hues.
