A brief history
Bodega Staphyle was born of the Porretta’s family dream to produce their wines. In 2002, the family decided to rebuild their old winery, built in the 1930s. This fascinating Boutique Winery is located in Carrodilla, Lujan de Cuyo, Mendoza. The latest wine technology blends in with its wooden ceilings and large windows glazed.
Nowadays, we have an outstanding group of winemakers, who bring together the wineries’ technology and the traditional methods of Mendoza, to make premium wines.
The Vineyards are located in the district of Ugarteche and Agrelo, Lujan de Cuyo. This is “Mendoza primera zona” (Mendoza’s main producing area), where varietals such as Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Bonarda, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay, are cultivated with great dedication.
In our winery the production starts in the vineyards, as we supervise the plant’s development from pruning to the harvest. When the maturation process is completed, harvest begins. This process is done manually.
The bunches are taken to the winery in bins of 18kls. When they arrive at the winery, manual sorting takes place. This is done before the destemming.
Fermentation is done in small barrels; this simplifies temperature control (which does not go over 26º). Due to this process, the wines have great concentration of colors and aromas. These characteristics can be appreciated in our wines, over time.
Our lab has the most modern technology. This technology is used to clarify and stabilize our wines. Once these processes are completed, the wine is ready for storage.
