Bodega del Desierto

A brief history

Bodega del Desierto (literally translated “from the desert”) is located in the town of 25 de Mayo, La Pampa province, Patagonia Argentina. Our three lines of wine: Desierto 25, Desierto Pampa and Pampa Mia, are carefully crafted and bottled in estate. The 160 kilometers of desert surrounding the vineyard ensure a natural sanitation buffer and also maintain the integrity of the ecosystem. The notion behind this project is premium winemaking, based on state-of-the-art technology. The 140 hectares of vineyard are planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Merlot, Syrah, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier. Desierto 25 comprises eight varietals and one blend. The premium line produced under the Desierto Pampa label is made up of four varietals, one blend and a late harvest Viognier. In both lines the grapes are first selected on the field and hand-harvested before going through a rigorous cluster and berry selection process at the winery, followed by careful and detailed winemaking. In the Desierto 25 line 70% of the wine spends nine months in American and French oak barrels. In Desierto Pampa 100% of the wine spends eighteen months in French oak barrels. For the past ten years, and with the collaboration of some of the best national and international consultancy (Paul Hobbs is in charge of all consulting activities), we have been working hard and passionately to produce wines of unique characteristics. The scores and awards obtained so far accompany our efforts. This 1.5 million-litter winery is the first in the province of La Pampa. We are proud to be pioneers in the development of this non-traditional viticultural region that has already rewarded us with wines of finesse.
