Matías Riccitelli Wines

A brief history

Matías Riccitelli was born in Cafayate - Salta, a small town in northern Argentina where you can breathe wine. A tireless traveler and dreamer, already in Mendoza he developed as a winemaker in one of the most prestigious wineries in Argentina. After countless vintages made around the world where he was gathering small and great anecdotes, he decided to mix everything he learned throughout his career and the teachings transmitted by his mentor and father Jorge Riccitelli, to create Riccitelli Wines in 2009.
The winery is located in Las Compuertas at 1100 meters above sea level, the highest area of the traditional Luján de Cuyo, where we manage 20 hectares of old free standing vineyards. We also work with small producers located in the best terroirs at the foot of the Andes Mountains between 1000 and 1700 meters above sea level, such as Gualtallary, Chacayes, Altamira and La Carrera.
In 2015 we started a new project, to revalue old vineyards in Patagonia Argentina, thus we created our Old Vines line: Semillón, Chenin Blanc, Torrontés, Bastardo, Merlot and Malbec. All from vines planted at the end of the 60s, located on the banks of the Río Negro.
Our harvests are carried out manually, maintaining the integrity of each bunch and then in the winery the grapes are sent by gravity to small concrete basins.
We seek in our vineyards the maximum expression of each terroir, maintaining the highest purity and delicacy both in winemaking and aging, thus respecting their uniqueness to obtain vibrant wines.
This enormous diversity of soils, highly influenced by altitude, shows the great potential that Argentina has and that is what we seek to express with our wines.
