The project began in 2005 when Gustavo Santaolalla, along with his wife Alejandra Palacios, bought an estate that they christened, La Luna, the name of their daughter. From the beginning, Gustavo brought in as venture partner his long-time colleague and friend, Raúl Orozco. La Luna estate is located in Lunlunta, Luján de Cuyo (Province of Mendoza), at 900 meters over sea level. From this privileged area of vine cultivation, especially for the Malbec, came the grapes for the creation of their own lines of wine. The estate is 22 hectares large, of which 10 are planted with vineyards, mostly of Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and also a bit of Petit Verdot. Current production is 20,000 bottles, under the labels Don Juan Nahuel (Reserva and Malbec), and Celador (Malbec). Gustavo and Alejandra's son was the inspiration for the first (Don Juan Nahuel). Celador refers to the song “Celador de Sueños”, a duet featuring Raúl Orozco and Fernando Barrientos. Thanks to this song, Raúl Orozco met Gustavo Santaolalla and the began to achieve their first of many successes together.
